The Graduate College is hosting a Scholars’ Table lunch open to graduate students to network and connect with external speakers and alumni. Apply for an opportunity to join Scholars’ Table on Feb. 25, noon–1:30 p.m. @ TBD to meet Dr. Franqui Machin.

Reinaldo (Rey) completed his BS in Microbiology at the Univ. of Puerto Rico, then a PhD in Molecular Biology focusing on cancer research at the University of Iowa, where he published in premier journals, like JCI and Nature Leukemia. Rey then pivoted to a career in patent law and completed a JD from Howard University. As a law student, Rey was the Executive Publications Editor for the Howard Law Journal and published legal scholarship on topics like genetic privacy regulations, AI in patents, and issues with current regulations on DNA editing technology. He is now licensed to practice law in Washington, D.C., and has had experiences in large international law firms and a federal court of appeals. Reinaldo currently works as a patent attorney clerk at the US Patent & Trademark Office helping Patent Judges resolve patent validity disputes.

Location TBD. Applicants will be notified if they are selected to attend this event and will be given the location for the lunch.
