Kai 2026-27 Iowa Innovation Leadership Fellow

The Molecular Medicine program is proud to congratulate program alumnus, Kai Vorhies, PhD ('25) on being selected as a 2026–2027 Iowa Innovation Leadership Fellow!

Now a postdoctoral scholar in Neuroscience and Pharmacology, Kai is driven by a simple but powerful idea: innovation begins with asking questions that current technology cannot yet answer. His research focuses on developing novel tools that enable scientists to better understand the brain and its complex networks.

Kai’s passion for innovation has been shaped by his experiences in graduate training and postdoctoral research, where he has embraced the creative process of designing, testing, and refining technologies to address unmet scientific needs. Through this work, he is helping expand what is possible in neuroscience while creating new opportunities for discovery.

As an Iowa Innovation Leadership Fellow, Kai will continue developing his leadership and innovation skills as he explores how cutting-edge research can be translated into tools that empower scientists and clinicians. His long-term goal is to advance collaborative, interdisciplinary innovation that deepens our understanding of neurological disease and ultimately improves patient lives.

Congratulations, Kai, on this well-deserved recognition! We are excited to see where your innovative work takes you next.
