Congratulations to Aidan Schlichting, a current Molecular Medicine Ph.D. student, on being selected as a 2026–2027 Iowa Innovation Leadership Fellow by the University of Iowa Office of Innovation!
Aidan’s passion for innovation grew from an early fascination with biology and a desire to understand how emerging technologies—including gene editing and precision medicine—could transform patient care. His research in Molecular Medicine focuses on RNA aptamer biotechnology and the development of targeted therapeutic delivery systems for cardiovascular disease, with the goal of creating more precise and effective treatments.
Throughout his graduate training, Aidan has embraced research at the intersection of molecular biology, engineering, and medicine, collaborating across disciplines to tackle complex challenges in cardiovascular health. His work reflects a commitment to translating fundamental scientific discoveries into technologies that can ultimately improve patient outcomes.
Through the Iowa Innovation Leadership Fellowship, Aidan will deepen his understanding of translational science and commercialization while learning from innovators across disciplines. He hopes to build a career advancing precision cardiovascular therapeutics from the research laboratory into clinical practice.
We are thrilled to see Aidan recognized for his innovative spirit and look forward to seeing where his research and leadership take him. Congratulations, Aidan!
