Markus H. Kuehn, PhD

Alireza Salimi is a Ph.D. student in the Biomedical Science Program in Molecular Medicine at the University of Iowa, conducting research in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. His work focuses on trabecular meshwork dysfunction in glaucoma and the development of stem cell–based and cell-free regenerative strategies to restore aqueous humor outflow and lower intraocular pressure. 

Alireza earned a B.Sc. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Tehran Azad University of Medical Sciences and an M.Sc. in Medical Biotechnology from North Khorasan University of Medical Sciences. His long-term goal is to translate laboratory discoveries into innovative therapies for vision-threatening diseases. With a strong background in biotechnology and cellular biology, he is passionate about bridging fundamental science with translational applications to improve human health.
